Opening Up a New World of Content to Travelers

Abstract
Award-winning travel publisher Lonely Planet had no shortage of content on its Web site, Lonelyplanet.com, but users found it difficult to navigate. Without clear visibility into the content, visitors weren’t finding what they were looking for or discovering new information. To increase revenue, decrease costs, and build loyalty, Lonely Planet choose Endeca® for Online Media. After implementing Endeca for Online Media within Lonelyplanet.com, the results were immediate: searches increased 26% and page views 15%. Much of the improvement was driven by visits to the site’s Thorn Tree Forum, proving that giving users community content — and visibility into that content — really drives loyalty.
